Concept for the visual identity of the Autonomous Province of Kosovo and Metohija

 

 

Due to the lack of visual identity of the AP Kosovo and Metohija, features that will strengthen the communication of the values and importance of the province, connect the peoples of the Republic of Serbia and internationalize the identity of APKiM, are needed.

The concept contains an important message:
AP Kosovo and Metohija is a land of great spirituality, which contains the centuries-old cultural heritage of Serbia.

 

The AP Kosovo and Metohija contains a large number of Serbian medieval monasteries that were made under the influence of the visual arts of the Byzantine Empire, and they represent the world's cultural heritage. The flag design, with tones of blue and yellow, transmits the spirit of the Byzantine visual culture, which Serbia nourishes for centuries, and indicates to the flags of the Nemanjić dynasty with its two-wings shape, and symbolically to the wings of a common blackbird (which Kosovo bears its name upon). On the bright shield of the coat of arms, a common blackbird in takeoff is shown as a symbol of spiritual freedom and wisdom.
